Good Excuses for Leaving a Job
Welcome back honey!
In my life, I have had no less than 8 different jobs. I’ve worked at three resturants, two gas stations, a motel and two…other jobs… that I do not wish to recall. I’ll be the first to admit it; I was a job-jumper. I would start a job with enthusiasm and excitement, only to start to get disillusioned about 6 months in and start looking for a way out. Toward the last month of employment at any of my soon-to-be-ex-jobs I would usually spend most of my time browsing Craigslist on my Blackberry, looking for a new job.
Of course, I have never learned my lesson. Each time I start a new job, I think it’s going to be the best thing ever. It’ll be “The One”. The one I climb the ladder in and make it to the top of the pyramid. The one where I become the tyrannical boss instead of the lowly underling. The one where- Awww, forget it. It’s not going to happen. I should just be happy to have a job.
If you are presently in a mid-job-crisis and are looking for a way out, here are some good excuses for leaving a job.
Joyless: I’ve stopped enjoying my job and it’s no longer a pleasure for me to work here
Negative Effect: I feel that the stress level at work has affected my relationship with my family.
A Moving Experience: I’m moving to a new part of town and I can’t rationalize such a long commute to this place.
Straight Up: I got a new job offer that pays more and has better benefits.
The Easy Way: This job isn’t challenging me sufficently and I need a career with more personal development opportunities.*
*This last one is a textbook response I found while researching this topic online. I don’t exactly know what the entire sentence means but I bet your boss will!
